Nuke weps? Cool! If we ever get together at a Saab meet, I'll tell you about some of the weird things I saw at Los Alamos one summer. Heh heh!
The method you use to remove the hood is exactly how I did it, manhandling it off by myself. But it is heavy and ungainly, and you're carrying it against your body with your arms outstretched and your forward vision blocked. Couldn't see my feet or where I was going. "An accident waiting to happen." If I'd done a little more Operational Risk Management beforehand, I probably would have decided to wait for someone to help me with it instead of grunting it around myself. I'm really lucky I didn't drop it, and that would have really ruined my day.
Putting it back on with my wife's help was far easier than removing it alone. I'd strongly encourage anyone attempting this to get a helper, especially if doing it for the first time. One of the reasons I write about the bone-headed mistakes I make is so that other folks who read this stuff can avoid making the same mistakes. As they say, "Experience is the best teacher, but a fool learns from no other." Hopefully, I can save a fellow Saaber from having to learn from experience!
Thanks for the encouragement, George!
