Upper engine mount (dogbone) bushings

I just replaced my two upper mount bushings the other day with a two-piece poly front, "heavy-duty" rear, and the result is underwhelming. The HD is similar to stock except it has no slits, and both are purportedly more durable--but the vibration that manages to get through with this combo is not acceptable to me.
When the AC is not on the vibration is tolerable, but with compressor on at idle the vibration is felt noticeably and the steering wheel visibly shakes. BTW, I used one of these bushing tools made specifically for the purpose of removing and installing these mounts, and it is a fine piece of work at around $50. The task was a breeze--except for the usual tools falling in the engine recesses and other standard aggravations--and I highly recommend it.
Now, the question: Who has tried any combination of these mounts with one stock mount? I need to decide if I should now just order two new stock mounts and give up on these alternative concepts, or one stock mount and use one of the two on the car now. I installed a poly mount (red, not sure of brand or origin) in front on my '91 with a stock rear and didn't notice much vibration increase. Since I'll have a surplus of mounts to choose from, I'm trying to decide where to go from here. Anyone done something along these lines that was satisfactory?
