It's been a couple of eventful days, and I need your help. A few days ago I changed my transmission fluid (single flush)and filter to combat a whining transmission, and poor shifting. After the change, the shifting was wonderful, and the whining was gone... I thought. The next day I noticed the whine again when there was no traffic. Ugh.

I brought the car to my local (SAAB only)indy, who diagnosed the problem in about 30 minutes. He determined that it was (forgive me for not knowing exactly as I don't have my receipt here with me) some bushing in the transmission pump. Anyway, they pulled the trans. replaced the bushing, and the noise was gone, and I was happy. So, happy that I went home and followed procedure for the FPT upgrade.

So, after replacing the ECU with a used one from a 1996 FPT, and adding the used APC solonoid (it was all hooked up properly as I double and triple checked), I was ready to go for a 200hp adaptation run... NOPE!!! DENIED!!!
NO START... DAMN!!! Double checked work... still no start. It cranked, and tried to catch, but just wouldn't start. I put everything back the way it was, and my LPT car started like a champ. Needless to say, I am disappointed to say the least... and it gets better.

I decided to take a drive into the mountains, and on the highway, I noticed that my car would not shift into overdrive. Stuck in 3rd. No way out. I also noticed that when going downhill, at very light throttle (just enough to overcome engine braking and keep a steady pace), my car bucks. Feels like it's missing. DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!!!!! Well, I checked the transmission fluid level, and the mechanic, who I assumed was competent, overfilled the transmission. Could this be causing the no 4th gear condition? I was going to drain some fluid myself, but decided that I will drive in tomorrow to let them adjust the fluid to spec, so maybe the mechanic can learn how to check the level correctly.

On the way home, car still a-buckin' away, the CEL (OBD II)comes on, and stays on. WTF?? (can you tell I'm upset?)

I am in serious need of moral support, and advice. Please HELP!!!

Did I cause the CEL to come with my FPT attempt? Everything is back exactly as I found it, so I don't see how I could have caused it.

AAGGGGHHHH!!!! Sorry for rambling!!!
