Hi all:
Today is a much better day. I went back to my local indy, where they adjusted the transmission fluid to spec. Transmission is fine.
They checked the ECU (normally $55)and the fault code indicated a vacuum leak at the MAF sensor. They replaced the hose and the problem was fixed. This was done at no cost.
Then I asked for a known good FPT ECU and they gave it to me for a significant discount from their list. I went home, reinstalled the BPC valve, installed the ECU, and VOILA -- FPT. Great upgrade.
So, all in all, things worked out great.
Thanks for your input, and especially thanks for letting me vent last night. I think venting of frustration (and sharing in happy stories) is one of the best features of this BB.
Much happier today!!
-Andy
