If you had the rotors turned there would be more movement in the peddle to take up the space that was turned off the rotors.My mechanic,saab trained and in the buisness over 18 years never turns rotors,they get weak and will warp.Try picking up some used ones from a wrecker,or one of the adveretisers on this web site.
I've had the same rotors on my 1988 900 s since new,360,000 k/ms,I just replaced the pads this morning.
