Hey guys, q's regarding your trans fluid. I hope this thread doesn't turn into a trans fluid debacle debate from years gone by, but anyway:
Aaron, what do you have in your trans, and how long have you had it in there?
Andrew: I heard you mention something about Honda fluid. Do you have this in your 9K and how long have you had?
Chuck, how's the BG syncroshift treating you, was it Syncroshift I or Syncroshift II. I know the later is synthetic but I'm unsure about
Previously I've had Amsoil75W90 and Redline MT90 in my old trans that saw some pretty brutal abuse (25psi from the turbo with a peaky torque curve)--laid that one to rest at about 260 000km. The only problem is that I didn't have the Redline in long enough to be sure that was a good fluid, as it was popping out of second by that time.
I now have a 1990NA trasnsmision with low miles and super smooth shift, just with some Shell Rotella dino for the interm/ I've dropped the turbo pressure to 18psi so get a no-so peaking torque curve (actually very linear with 20 degrees advance with the MSD BTM system)--may have something to do with gear NA ratios, which should be a a bit easier on the trans. One problem though, I'm getting a T3/T4 hybrid (or a T3Super60 not sure just yet).......so I'm back to the 'what fluid is best question' to help fend of the inevitable down the road.
