but I have been dealing with this issue ever since replacing the O2 sensor and fuel filter at the same time back on 8/11.
Car pulled like a beast the day before, then had low-boost the first drive out after the "maintenance". I did the O2 sensor on a Saturday, and had a trusted indie replace the filter on that Monday (I could not remove the inlet banjo fitting without destroying it).
I find it hard to believe that some other component decided to die at the exact same time I did this work. Sure, I know it *could* happen, but given the fact I replaced 2 major things that would have a direct effect on boost, I really think one of them is the cause.
My plan of attack now will be to replace the fuel filter first and do some test runs. If nothing changes, then I will re-install the original O2 sensor and give that a try. Unfortunately, the oem sensor is slightly dirty from sitting in the trash overnight, as well as had caused the CEL to illuminate in the first place.
The first new O2 sensor I installed turned out to be a faulty one since it caused the CEL to come back on. I sent that one back for a replacement, and installed the 2nd new one and the CEL has not come on. That is not to say that this O2 sensor could also be faulty. The problem is, if it is the sensor again, will eEuroparts.com honor another replacement 3 months old? I can back up my woes with all of the dates of my posts to this board--I only hope Todd will recognize that it was another faulty sensor if it turns out that my car is back to normal once installing the old one again.
Bill, I have been reading your posts, making notes of what you had tested and found out, and I followed accordingly. Unfortunately, I think my problem is different than yours given the fact that I had toyed with the O2 sensor and fuel filter.
TonyJ and John, I only recently became aware of the fact that you are also having boost problems, but from what I have read, you also have performed the same tasks, if not more than, what I have done. But as I said to Bill, I *think* my problem is related to one of the things I replaced.
Chuck, very good idea, and it is amazing you found that problem. I will check for that as well.
Hopefully, I will find some time to tinker around this weekend, though I have to "winterize" the household to prepare for the cold New England weather that's just started. For some reason, my wife thinks getting the house ready is more important than fixing my 9K--imagine that!!!!!
Any and all other ideas will be greatly appreciated!
Joe
