Hello all,
Thank you Rafe and Daren for your replies...
Rafe, i will agree with you that this isn't looking like a specific TCS related problem. However, if it is a TCS problem, we have a second 92 9kt with tcs that we can swap parts with.
We could swap the check valve, if someone thinks that a bad TCS related valve would cause a no start condition.
Daren: Transmission repairs on my 1990 are underway, no major info to report... and might need chips sometime soon... i'll let you know....
Anyways, We just tried the emergency startup procedure you mentioned, and the car still would not start. The sysmptoms of it not starting are the exact same as it is when you try and start the car normally.
I want to know what systems that procedure was actually bypassing.
Does this now mean that the car not starting is NOT a TCS related problem?
On top of trying your start procedure, we swapped the di/apc AND the ecu computers with a known working pair, and still, no progress was made.
The only code we could see via the check engine light was a continuous 2 flashes of the CEL when the key is turned to the ON position...
...which i think means "bad di rom checksum"
this was present before the no start condition though, and can be attributed to the fact that we have a performance chip from swedish dynamics in the car. only in the di box though.
The code of course dissapeared when we switched to the di with a stock chip in it.
The problem right now seems to be nin TCS related, NON computer related...CORRECT???
The tach bounces slightly when trying to crank the engine. is this normal?
any further suggestions?
