I think you may have hit on the cause of the problem when you said: "i added oil to the cylinder, and the compression went up to 135 psi".
My question is how long did your wife run it hot? The rings might have lost there tension from the heat/ and less lubrication from a overworked oil.
What weight were you running before the new head gasket?
Did you change the oil after the head gasket with the same weight?
The only reason i ask about the heat is that when i was younger,my friend bought a theft recovery Corvette.The car had been stripped of its carburetor and other minor parts.When we got it back together,it cranked well with good oil pressure,but would not start.
After many days of trying we took a compression test and found that all the cylinders had less than 60 psi when checked.
Pulled the motor and found the rings were very worn[for a car with less than 5000 miles] and a main bearing was spun.
