fan speed controller testing question Posted by vtsnaab [Email] (#26) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vtsnaab) on Thu, 3 Jan 2008 02:51:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi Folks.
I think either my car got a big batch of snow inside the blower housing
or the fan motor/speed control debacle is in progress - so I pulled the
fuses during this lovely below zero weather and I am coping, but chilly.
The motor does come up to high speed but then it goes nuts and there is
that lovely fried electronics aroma...
I've made the rounds - searched here, visited Quasi's site, etc. to get
into the proper mindset for fan motor replacement if needed, but in the
meantime ->
My questions:
1.
Is there a way to temporarily jumper out the fan speed controller for
testing purposes ?
If it is possible somehow to get the motor up to speed minus the erratic
variations I'd be able to hear if the motor is dying.
2.
If there is a snow/ice buildup that caused this mess, is it OK to pour
some deicer down the fresh air inlet to help things out ?
(I would think liquid in there is OK because it is exposed to weather...)
Thanks for any help !
