Well, I said vacuum leak (ie unmetered air), what I really needed to describe is that the manifold suction will not pull down the case pressure significantly at idle. The suction line must only draw slightly on the case, drawing some fume into the manifold along with the metered air from the intake boot.
So, basically what we want to achieve is no case pressure rather than negative pressure at idle and cruise. With no check valve (PCV) in the line running toward the intake boot, pressure will simply be bled off at all throttle plate settings.
Tomorrow, I am going to perform a leak-down test. Because, I am still suspect that I have either a guide or ring wiping issue that is causing some smoking at idle.
Because the plugs do not show fouling, I am suspect of excessive crank pressure causing the turbo to push oil past the seal and into the exhaust.
This issue is really puzzling me.
