Some of the usual rust spots on later 9K's are at the base of the windshield/'A' pillars and the rear shock tower area.

To check the shock tower area, pull the carpet out of the clips on either side of the rear hatch area so that you can see the fender and the metal brackets. You shouldn't have to remove any fasteners to get in there enough to look around. There's a molded in flap to tell you where the top shock bolt is, but its easier to just pull the whole carpet side down.

Oil around the exhaust manifold is most likely from the valve cover area. The manifold, though, is likely to have one or more broken studs.
