The EDU and gauges get the signal from the speedo sending unit in the tranny. Period. There are no other inputs. Either you have a bad sending unit (if you want to check, I have another I could send you....drop me an email), you have a bad gear on the sending unit, you have a bad gear down inside the transmission, or simply a loose wire connection to the back of the gauges.
First check for me would be to pull the gauges, and on each tab where connection is made to the back of the gauges....scrub them a bit with a scotch brite pad to clean them up and remove any oxidation. If the problem doesn't go away, try another sending unit WITH YOUR EXISTING GEAR. If still no change, try another gear, and if THAT doesn't work....I'd look at the gear in the tranny as the culprit.
