I doubt it is a fuel (or fuel pump) issue. Lose fuel pressure, and the engine will cough and die. The symptoms are the engine just stopped 'smoothly' - which isn't consistent with fuel starvation. That seems a lot like if it were shut off, which means ignition and/or fuel injectors. Hence my question about the dash lights and the ignition switch.
It could be the main relay, a fuse to the FI or DI, or other circuitry driving the DI. But I'd concentrate on electrical driving the Fuel Injection or ignition.
