You will note that some people claim the engine was removed from the Volvo before the impact test, but I don't think that's the case; there is a lot of open real estate under the hood on a 940. One significant thing that the show didn't comment on was, "what happens after the impact?" In the test, both cars are "tethered" by cables, and and the cable appears to prevent the Renault from overturning, whereas the Volvo looks pretty sure-footed. What injuries would be suffered by Renault occupants if the car rolled? Would there be a fire?
As most everyone else said, a 2010 9-5 is going to do better in a crash than a 9000, but I'd still prefer to be in a 9000 in a crash than a Kia.
