This is NOT good. This means he doesn't know, and is spending your money. Or you are helping with his boat payment.
There are things on Saabs that any mechanic can deal with, but also stuff that is pretty unique.
If you get in the car and turn on the key you should hear a hum-buzz noise from behind/under the rear seat. That's the fuel pump. If you don't hear it then the pump is not working. Could be the pump or just a fuse. If you hear the pump and still can't start the car, it's more likely electrical, like the DI. It could be other things, but the fuel pump and DI are common no-start culprits.
You may be clueless about cars, but we'll help you out if you keep the car. A lot of stuff is not hard to do... you just need to know what pieces are where and what to do with them. And we can help.
But if you sell the car, tarheel will give it a good home.
