Mary - - Now hearing it from your mechanic, it seems something is wrong with the sockets into which the two front turn signal-emergency flasher bulbs should be inserted, or with the wiring leading to them.

He wants the light sockets themselves; what he'd get with them is not wiring to plug into something else, but enough of the original wiring harness off a junkyard car to let him make a good splice to the original wiring of your car.

Evidently something has happened either to the sockets, or to the wiring leading to them.

Knowing this, I can look for a car in a yard near me in Portland that would have what he wants; the Brunswick car has different front assemblies but maybe its wiring is the same; if I visit there again soon I'll pull sockets and compare, and if right buy them and prep them for sending to you. Shouldn't be more than $10 to buy those right; they never go bad normally.

If you'll post on here, or e-mail me, the name and phone number of your garage man I'd prefer to talk to him before I get the parts just to be sure what he wants. I sent you an email via your Saabnet membership, and that has my address to reply to.

As to the gas smell I doubt it's reason to give up the car. I had such a smell when I filled my car anything more than just to the point where the pump clicked off. Gas was dripping. I stopped over-filling it and drip and smell stopped. Then last month I discovered, hose clamps on the rubber elbows between gas filler neck and the tank had rusted away. Replaced them and now no smell, no gas dripping at fillup.
