In hot weather stop and go traffic my 88 used to follow the fan cycle. It would get up to10 oclock, then go down as the fan kicked in. It had an 82C thermostat which stayed right at 8 oclock during normal open road driving. Once I figured out what was going on and got used to it I stopped worrying.
