I have a 92 9ks [non turbo] and have had this one since 2000 and 100k,the car has had 4 thermostats in the last 13 years and 119,000 miles.
I have watched the temp gauge go up past 10 o'clock and then settle back to 8 o'clock during warm up, with the needle jumping around during warm up.
The thermostat finally stayed in the open position and never warmed up.
The 9k non turbo has a one speed fan with a 2 pole switch.
I replaced the switch with a low temp 88c one for a 1986 VW cabriolet, cut the wire harness from the Saab switch and added 2 terminal ends.this has worked well for the last 10 years.
The 92 9ks became my sons daily driver after his S4 and Scirocco were flooded from Sandy....Both my sons have spent there lives in 9000's and are still happy to drive the 92 when needed.
