HELP!!!
I've been thru Ari's No-start test procedure - I've tested relays, the Crankshaft position sensor, fuses, connections, etc. Still can't locate the problem...
A couple Saab 9k questions - car starts, runs less than 5 seconds and dies. I need to know the best way to test the following:
It's gotta be fuel or spark. It starts and runs briefly with a shot of carb cleaner, which makes me believe it's fuel related.
1) DI cassette - good or not - the saabnet procedure says remove it from the cylinder head, put 4 spark plugs into the coils in the DI, ground them all (I assume the body, not the electrodes, and turn ignition on - should all produce sparks. If yes, DI is good; if not, DI is likely no good.
2) Fuel Pressure Regulator - I removed the vacuum line - the line is old and cracked/drying out, although it does seem to hold vacuum by the mouth test.
3) Fuel Pump - I can hear it running. The motor is about 18 months old (I changed it inside the FP assembly myself). How can I tell for sure whether or not it's pumping fuel and with adequate pressure without spraying gas everywhere, and if there is a way, where/how? Hint: No car running so I can't go borrow or buy a fuel pressure or flow tester.
4) Fuel Filter - could the filter actually be clogged enough to keep the car from running? (I've never changed it since I bought the car in Jan 2008.
Thoughts on "how to" tests for the above?
Thanks in advance!
