Same car, same issue. Fortunately it was 5 years ago at 160K so I went ahead and did the stupid gear, clutch and some of the transmission bearings. The car also was virtually rust free. I don't see why you can't keep driving as is. Maybe check the plugs to see how the fuel is burning. Keep the plugs clean and gapped to protect your DIC.
