The later 9000's had 2 engine temperature sensors, one in the end of the head, above the transmission, for the temp gauge via the EDU, and other between #2 intake ports for the Trionic engine control. For a real indication of engine temperature, as the Trionic sees it, use an OBDII reader, it displays the temp in degrees. Some interesting stuff happens, like the engine running at 170 degrees in cold temperatures, lightly load with a 180 degree thermostat. Verified that by finding 180 degree thermostats crack open at 170 degrees and are not fully open until 190+ degrees.
