I have two issues. The voltage on the dash is all over the place. 12.5 - 13.4. I replace the VR, 2 years and 15K miles ago. The alternator is 20 years old with 190K on it. So the VR just may not be cutting it. At the same time as the voltage is swinging, I am melting my 30 amp low speed fan fuse and holder. Meanwhile, the gauge temp stays between 10 and 11 o'clock. I have the 83 degree thermostat and the Newton mod for fan control. Also, the radiator fan is new as of 18 months age. I don't think one has anything to do with the other but...
So where to get a rebuilt alternator since the Bosch 129x seem to be out of stock and what to do about the fan drawing so much load that it melts the fuse and holder? Trying to do this cheaply on the alternator as I have seem one alternator for $110 and others at $250.
