I have a 94 Aero Automatic and taken it from 25,000 miles to 105,000.
The bad news is that the Automatic has only 200bhp against the manual 230 bhp.
The good news is that you can still stuff almost anything on the road. Obviously my tests are unscientific but cars that couldn't gain anything on me (or pass me) include Subaru Impreza Turbo, Audi S4s. Cars that I dissappoint include Porsche Boxsters (too fat), Rover turbos.
As you can see I don't hold back. Engine/gearbox problems none if you exclude when the garage c**ked up the timing belt swop. I reckon the auto prevents me hitting the rev limiter as I was prone to do in previous cars.
I have heard that the auto-box will not take more power though.
