Why do you want to change? My transmission shifts very smoothly with amsoil, and with heaps of additional torque and hp, it's still alive with no syncros problems (it's an '88!) If you go to a gear oil, use 75W90 GL-5 ONLY. There have been some instances here of tranny failure from the Redline 75W80 GL-4. There have been failure in the C900 trannies with high HP applications using GL-4 as well. The Amsoil is safe on seals (I haven't had a leak) and safe on syncros. WHat year is yours SAAB? FYI Honda went from their spec. 10W30 oil to 75W synthetic gear oil this year, and rumour has it that it's suspiciously similar to Redline. The rumour mill on the NG900 board claims the SAAB syn. to be the same as well, but I won't endorse that:) I think someone here had evidience that SAAB's was different than Redline.
Remember, you can use the new SAAB synthetic oil which is proven in the saab tranny. THat is funny,,,,why would SAAB want to prove that anything else works excellent,,,hmmm...8-)
