Thanks for the info, Robert. A former indy mechanic changed my 1989 9Kturbo tranny oil with Agip 10W30 synthetic oil at 117,000 miles. I now have 236,000 miles and have a little vibration sound at the shift lever under hard acceleration in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear. Also in 5th gear above 70 mph. Changed to Pennzoil dino 10W30 at 225,000 after reading about trouble from synthetic oil in 5-speed trannies on the 9000. Since there is no drain plug, I used a suction device that removed about 1.4 quarts each time and did so 6 times in an attempt to remove as much synthetic as possible. Of course I drove the car a bit to mix the fliud between changes and jacked up the passenger side. Still have a slight noise (vibration) as stated above. I am trying to avoid the tranny rebuild as long as possible, but love the car. Should I stay with the dino 10W30 and cgange often? Good dino oil is cheap and it is easy to change. I would change it every 500 miles if I could avoid the rebuild cost. Want to dive this car to at least 300K since the engine is fantastic. Thanks for you advice. Val
