I Have recently purchased Saab 9000'87 SE Turbo (B202).
I have a list of questions to ask, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
(i) My front drivers heated seats does not work at all, and only the base of the passengers gets slightly warm, even when put on the maximum settings.
I have tested the switches and they are working, are there any other areas I should check?
(ii) On the Co-driver trip computer the outdoor temperature reads F2, I know it is indicating any error, but is it the sensor (located on front bumper, on passenger side) or is it the trip computer?
But the display on the dashboard does not indicate any faults with the temperature.
(iii) On the display panel for indicating which doors are open, one of them does not light up (Rear Right Passenger), I have checked the bulb in the dash, and it is not blown, any idea's?
(iv) On the rear of the roof the headlining is sagging quite badly, is there a DIY solution, or will I have to take it to a specialist? How much would that cost?
Also the sunroof cloth has slightly unstuck, it is especially visible when in the tilt position.
(v) I seem to have trouble with the automatic box. Every time I shift it into "D" position it bangs into gear, but shifts smoothly when selecting "R".
Also when kick down occurs, especially during overtaking it shifts down with the same characteristics when selecting "D".
Do I need a new box? I read somewhere you can recon the valves or springs, is that relevant to me?
(vi) I recently purchased a new turbo (Garret T3 Water cooled). I fitted myself and after a few days I decided to give it some stick. After de-accelerating I noticed a loud ratterling sound, this got progressively louder, until the car came to a complete halt, and would not start.
I thought the timing chain had snapped, but it turned out the front intake turbine of the turbo had seized up. I am taking the turbo back to have it looked at. Is there something I did wrong when installing the turbo.
I know there was oil going through the turbo, because I did not tighten the oil drain pipe and it was slightly leaking oil. The actuator was not set, and was running a slightly lower boost, for the turbo gauge needle was only in the yellow at full acceleration. Could that have caused the turbo to seize, or could it be a wrong turbo they supplied?
(vii) The abs light on the dash keeps on coming on then going off, then stays on. The brake light goes off, and the brake resorvoir is full, so why?
Sorry for such a long e-mail, I know you must be busy, and you are probably wondering why I bought this car. I got it from an auction, and I am a student. This is my second car, my first was a Renault 5 Campus. The Saab is beautiful to drive, especially with the cruise control, for that is why I am trying to restore it to factory condition.
Many, Many Thanks
Jean-Marc
