'96 9K Aero, 140K miles.
Last Saturday, driving along the motorway - pulled out and accelerated in 3rd gear. Hit about 80 (about 4500RPM) and the engine died with a huge bang, something rattled under the car that made me look in the mirror to see a huge amount of smoke and bright glowing bits (it was night) trailing behind the car.
A con-rod had gone and smashed the engine (and the cat) to bits. I can certainly say I was stranded. That engine will never move a car again.
