I have a '92 9000T, 5-speed. Until last year, I was proud of the fact that my car had never stranded me anywhere. It once came close, but got me back home before letting go. Here are my tales:
Two bouts of TCS disease, one in late '97 and one in October of 2000. Neither involved any particularly expensive bits.
Clutch master cylinder/slave cylinder crapped out on me in July '98, a week after I'd returned from a 10-day, 2100 mile vacation tour. The car was nice enough to wait until I'd returned home before giving up the ghost that time.
The worst stranding I've had occurred last summer...July 4th weekend, while going to visit my girlfriend's parents in central New Hampshire. Suffered a catastrophic failure of the harmonic balancer and idler pulley. Had to be towed off I-95. This happened at 4pm on the Sunday before the holiday. Mercifully, the mechanics were able to find a Saab dealer open on the Monday, got the parts and got us back on the road after having lost just one day. Cost me $650.
My car just turned 100K. With any luck, and a vigilant eye toward preventive maintenance, future strandings will be avoidable.
