The 4-wheel drive is more capable, but there's a danger of 4-wheel slide on icy conditions. In this case the driver looses control totally.
An older model turbo saab has lots of power and torque but also the kick. I can recall several times overtaking trucks on icy roads and experiencing wheel spin on 5th gear. After 2 winters spiked Hakkapeliitta 10:s had no spikes left. I have no experience of 2.3T in winter but you definately don't need the 200 hp then.
I would recommend a 2.3 n/a or lpt.
