I agree with Michael Smith that there wasn't nearly enough time for the BL to circulate through the system, even if there is a remote chance it could've killed a water pump. You guys install what you wish in your cars, but the evidence is quite overwhelming that the stuff works not only as a leak preventative but a cooling system conditioner. Otherwise, why would GM, Ford, Chrysler, Jaguar, and a host of other OEM's install BL at their respective factories?

Again, my '91 had it installed for eight years and 124k miles with no cooling system problems of any kind. If there was a cause/effect relationship between Saabs and BL it would've shown up then. FWIW, the present owner has added another 50k to the car and it remains trouble free. My '95 Aero has had it installed for 2½ years and it fixed a persistent heater core leak. No trouble there either.

There is nothing in BL that will sieze a water pump or thermostat. If you installed BL and the pump died the next day, it was ready to die. Same for the guy who blamed BL for his 'stat crapping out a month or so after installing BL.

My '66 Corvette has had BL installed for 20 years now, and the original (yes, 35-year-old) Delco 'stat finally died last month. Now, do you guys think BL killed that thermostat?
