I asked about fitting '93 Aero springs to my '96 Aero. This spawned a long thread which went into different springs for different models, markets, chassis options, spring colour codes, etc. I think the answer to your question is that you can't really tell without checking the spring colour codes as the springs changed so much. The only way is to look at the colour codes. The thread I started, God help me, is at the link below.

In the end, I saw how much Saab wanted to charge for springs (I didn't want to fit used ones) and opted for the Abbott spring/damper kit instead.
I'm surprised you thought the CD handled well, as I believe they had the softest springs and anti-roll bars of all, and my CD's handling was nothing to write home about. But then, it all goes to support my statement above that you really can't tell what you're going to get.
