I did this in conjunction with the front bushes (which I think now didn't need changing - they almost never do). The front bushes are hard to change and require removing the control arm (lower suspension arm) and pressing the old bush out and a new bush in. I wouldn't change these unless you have a good reason to suspect them (they almost never go wrong). There is a procedure for this on my web site (below), if you want to see what is involved.
The rear bushes are a lot easier. Unfortunately, this wasn't pointed out to me until I had removed the control arms again to replace the rear bushes with polyurethane. My fault - it should have been obvious, really. Thanks for the tip, Sully.
I'm told (and from my experience, this should work well) that to change just the rear bushes:
1. Jacking up the front of the car.
2. Remove the front wheel.
3. Unbolt the plate under the bush (4 off 13mm bolts - some cars have 2 extra bolts, apparently).
4. Undo the 18mm nut holding the bush (you might want to loosen this nut off a bit before unbolting the plate), then remove it.
5. Reverse for refitting, but don't fully tighten the nut yet, so the bush can just rotate on its pivot.
6. Lower the car before tightening the nut so it is tightened in its normal running position. Otherwise it gets twisted and strained when you lower the car. There is clearance for an open-ended spanner with the car on the ground. It's easier to do if you drive it onto ramps for the final tightening.
Torque for both the 13mm bolts and 18mm nut is 50Nm (37lbft). You won't be able to torque the nut easily since you can only get a spanner on it. Do it "tight enough" (probably as tight as you can possibly get it with an open-ended spanner while lying under the car).
I'd say get yourself a 13mm socket or spanner and an 18mm spanner and some new bushes (I got mine from an indy in the UK - I'm sure they are available from many of the sponsors here). Allow probably 1/2 hour per side (I've had the whole control arm off, replaced the bush and put it back on in that time, but I've done it a few times now).
