The vast majority of bits are compatible. Essentially, between the "A" pillars and "C" pillars, 99s and early (79 & 80) 900s are identical, save for the dash. If it's a hatchback 99, the similarity goes from the "A" pillars to the rear bumper. Parts from later 900s can be used, also, but some not as easily (seats, for one). 3 door & 2 door doors are swappable between 99 & 900, 4 door & 5 doors the same. Hatches too, though the 1980 900 hatch got the extra taillights in the hatch. They just won't work on your 99 if you don't wore them up, should you have to replace a hatch.
System wise, it's pretty much all the same. CIS is CIS, though any 900 imported to the US will have Lambda, which wasn't on all 99s until 1980 (though it was on all 99 turbos, and California cars from some point).
Front suspension parts are the same 99 to 900, and you can upgrade to the later, lighter 1981- 900 brakes very easily. Rear suspension in theory should all be the same, year for year.
Best of luck with it!
