I believe the Soccerball wheels, '77 and later are laid out the same as the later alloys with the machined center bore.
Yes - I did relieve the centers of a set early Soccerballs years ago with a hand held rotary cutter in an electric drill so they would fit over the 'center'-bore flange on 900 hubs. I found I had a '78 EMS with a mix of early and late Soccerballs - if I remember correctly one wheel would mount on the rear, but not on the front.
