Interesting to hear recording yet few on this posting will (or anywhere) have remedy experience. Following through with JopnH good isea AND do use a 4 foot heater hose to listen through and it will give a general area hint. Follow this by placing handle of 3 foot screwdriver to ear and touching parts of trans to gain kinetic location hint. Recap: 1.) T/O failure do not rumble they whine like am radio w/o antenna hearing alternator. 2.) Chains do (see above original post)3.)bent reverse idler gear will rhythmically knock at idle, 4.) failed cluster gear needle bearings will hiss and grind. These are the ONLY items that produce neutral noise. (pilot bearing failure only turns and makes noise when clutch is pushed in) Total outside long shot with rumble is worn severely worn crank thrust washers, so depressing clutch pushes crank just to one side and then "no rumble" noise. Pry flywheel for and aft to test. moves more than thin match cover cardboard this is not good.
