Great answer Geoph, you have covered the basics. Here are some possible sources of the individual seal or repair of the entire rack and pinion unit. Seals: try Bearings Supply Company, Sacramento Ca, 1-800-339-8416. Olcar Bearing, 910-693-3324. Straight Line Suspension, 1-800-832-2800. The last one, Straight Line Suspension, used to rebuild steering racks but no longer does, but might be able to guide you to a source of the seal. Overall, your best bet is to ID the individual seal by numbers on it (hahaha, but try it with your magnifying glass) or by shaft diameter (= seal ID), bore diameter (= seal OD), and seal thickness. The seal exists, the only prob is to source it.


PLEASE ANSWER THIS POST, I HAVE GONE TO SOME TROUBLE TO TRY TO HELP YOU AND ALL OTHER READERS WITH SOME PRETTY SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE. I DO THIS ON MY OWN TIME FOR NOTHING BUT IF YOU CANNOT GIVE ME A PLAIN THANK YOU I WILL BE DISINCLINED TO CONTINUE HELPING.
