Hi Jon,
Thanks for all this. Looks like you didn't encounter so many issues when converting yours. The brake master will certainly need some thinking, though. Apart from that, I'm happy to hear the hear axle won't be a mess, cos I had read also that the pre-75 cars didn't were not fully compatible (I have that on my 65 volvo amazon, and once is enough!!). This is good because I'll need to use a C900 as well as other goodies including a later brake master to qualify for a Saab recognition of my conversion (wanna be street legal this time, unlike the beefed up amazon...), from what I've seen. As for a turbo conversion, this is of course part of the plan. Do you have a high press or later LPT setup on yours?
Now about trannies, I' pretty surprised you get such a good mileage with your 4sp and that you describe it as "quiet"!! Ive always considered my dad's C900S highly noisy at motorway speeds... Do you use yours as a daily driver? Anyway, I'll see which donor cars I can dig up over here and this will most probably dictate the choices!! What about parts availablity for 99 trannies. Are they as "fragile" as the C900 ones?
I'm afraid POR-15 is a no-go here in switzerland: they hate fiber on your car altogether when you go to the safety check and they WILL use magnets and hammers to proof this... A bit of it on the wheel arches is OK, but not on the floors and uderneath the car. "yeah, but, Sir, it's a lot more resisant than steel" "- no way I know my job kid!" is the usual stuff when they find non-steel components on your car...
Pics are not yet in an online album but you can look at the ebay listing (no 4636729505) for some seller made pics where the car looks good, and I add the link to one of my pics to give you an idea of the re'ar wheel arches...
OK, that's it for now, or you'll think swiss people like talking too much! Cheers, Seb
