Timing chains? YES. Tensioners? ALMOST NO. Slyde, I have been lucky in finding my 2 timing chains, 2 tensioners, and 1 new set of sprockets and guides. My complete timing kit came from the UK. They seem to have more of these goodies over there.
It took a combination of making the need known here on the great Saabnet, and the other was the constant searching on the big auction site in the sky :-) Making sure that my search included WORLDWIDE searching. You can also set up searches that will notify you when the item you are looking for is first posted.
So now I have one replacement each for my 2 "B" engines - both 1979 Saabs (a 99 GL, and a 900 GLE 5-door). I am still on the lookout for more because it is my desire to drive these cars until I cannot drive anymore, which I hope is a very long time, plus my GLE is starting to rattle as it's been a while :-(
You can still get NON-OEM timing chains on many of the on-line parts places and can actually order them from your local auto parts store - probably. AutoZone.com has Beck Arnley timing chains for the 99 at a cost of $41.99. I never ordered one, but I would guess they would work just fine. (does anyone know for sure?)
GOOD LUCK!!!
