Dan..

I'm contemplating pulling the enigne today, to replace the oil seal, and open the timing chain cover.

This is when the light bulb illuminates.

If I remove the transmission cover, Will not the seal between the engine/tranny become damaged? and also the head gasket?

I really wanted to inspect ( the conditioner of the tensioner/ guide) properly as the winter is coming, and don't wish to be engaged in the work with frigid fingers..

Another voice tells me, pry the guides, and fix later.

But the oil seal would be easier with the engine out.. Can you reccomend the better "brand" oil seal? and also if the engine gasket set/ head gasket are still available/source for the 74?

Thanks for any input/pardon the ongoing questions!!
