Hi Bruce,

What would cause the pressurization in the crankcase?

My oil level registers about halfway between min and max on the dipstick, and the underside of the filler cap was bone dry (discolored and brownish from age) there is no build up of crud or anything like that apparent.

I just made another trip out to the garage, and looked over everything when I was checking the filler cap, and I noticed what appeared to be about 4 or 5 drops of oil on the top of the starter.

I was going to take the car to a cruise tomorrow evening. I will run it a little, and check again to see where the oil may be leaking from. The cylinder head was dry from the plug closest the firewall forward (or about the halfway point) before I cleaned everything up this evening. The side with the filler cap (passenger side, or right side of engine) is dry and doesn' t appear to be leaking anywhere.

For some history: when the head gaskets where replaced (about 400 miles ago), the mechanic that helped me with the job (builds small block Fords for racing) said the internals where in amazing shape, and that the car had been well maintained. He mentioned pistons looked good and free of any kind of build-up on top, and I believe he replaced the valve seals while he was in there. The odometer reads 66,000 and the car seems to run great other than the oil leak.

Recently converted to 1barrel Weber, Petronix ignition replaced points. No other mods.

If you can think of anything else, or have any suggestions, let me know. Thanks for responding.

Could the intake manifold have a bad gasket? what would I look for? I wouldn't think that would leak, and then run around the side and forward would it? I'm learning this stuff as I go along.

Best regards,
Randy McCafferty
