Oil venting out dipstick is a classic sign of plugged PCV system (on any older car, not just SAABs.) If crankcase gases don't get scavenged by the PCV, well, they're going to get out somewhere, and the dipstick (as you noticed) is not really sealed so it provides an ideal exit.
Yeah, it also could be a gasket, but the PCV is so much easier to check that you might as well do it first. (1) You didn't disconnect all the PCV hoses to "get rid of this smog-control @#$%$", did you? If so, put 'em back! (2) Unscrew the PCV valve and shake it; see if you hear the ball rattle. If not, clean or replace. (3) Check the hoses and the breather to make sure they're not plugged up.
If all these things check out OK then you have to look at gaskets and other possibilities, but at least you've disposed of the easy one first. I always hate it when I waste a lot of time checking out a lot of hard-to-check possibilities and only THEN find out the problem was some easy thing...
PS -- Bruce is right, make sure there's not too much oil -- that's even easier...
