the bottom mount for the release bearing is a complete circle, but the upper mount is not, just a 'U', make sure the clips are properly installed to hold the release bearing in place.
yes, it is easier to mount the engine to the trans out of the car, and slide them in together, if you have an engine hoist, and all that stuff. You can do it separately, but usually, only if you need to pull the motor, or just do a clutch job. If you pulled the motor and trans, put them back in mated together.
there are a variety of sources for this stuff, from Motor Sports Service in Jamestown, NY, to Chip Lamb in Richmond, VA to Bud Clark, J&B imports in Orange, CA to Jack Ashcraft in Oregon.
