Hi, I own one of the early V4 sonetts with the wooden dash.
It does not seem that there ever was a two stroke mounted.
In that case the engineroom floorplan would have been altered to, no signs of that.
Saab was known for keeping buildingcosts low, so when they decided to switch to V4,they just used the parts they already had for the two stroke.
Like the wooden dash and doors
The left over engines were mounted in the 96 Shrike cars, only sold in the US.
Because in europe at that time nobody wanted to buy a two stroke car anymore.
The "lifetime warranty" was given to make persuade people to buy one, which worked out.
