If you want to remove the thermostat, put a flow restrictor in instead. If the flow through the radiator is too fast, the water will not cool. Now to Gary's problem.
It was 111 here in Dallas yesterday so I REALLY feel your pain. Since the car will cool when you had more radiator which is what turning on the heat does, you need more radiator up front. How to make it fit, I have no idea. I had similar problems and used the same solution of running the heater with my Sonett V-4 a few years back when the temperature officially hit 117 down here. My fix was to pass out when I got home. One serious suggestion is to be sure your cooling fan is blowing the proper direction. A friend of mine has an old Jag. When I checked, the electric fan was blowing in the dirction the car was moving. This means that no air was going across the radiator once the car started moving. Good luck.
Richard
