My assumption was he was talking about the hard to get stuff - things like motor mounts, electrical parts, wiring, etc. Those things are all substantially different. The 900 used barrel-style solid motor mounts whereas the 99 used flat pieces of rubber that the engine simply rested upon. They are NOT compatible and I don't think you can order the 99 ones anymore - I've tried. The alternator, power steering pump (not a problem on a 99T :), A/C are not compatible. The hoses and wiring are not compatible. Most of the fuel lines are not compatible, as the 900 used banjo-style fittings whereas the 99 was mostly compression fittings. All the fragile interior parts (dash, clusters, HVAC) are not the same. All the fragile exterior pieces (lights, bezels, grille) aren't either.
Of course the major body & suspension components are the same... they're the same from '76 to '93, essentially. But those aren't the hard to find parts. Neither are the big interior parts like seats, door panels, etc. Ironically, the easy to find stuff rarely breaks - the hard to find stuff is all ultra-brittle and apparently made completely of Unobtainium.
