I would avoid mounting the fuel pump under the rear seat. Connections and the pump itself are all potential fuel leaks which would occur inside the passenger's compartment. Also the pump requires grounding to the metal body of the car. The wooden rear seat support is also adjustable for four different seat heights, a feature you would loose by mounting the pump to it. The pump has plenty of lift and it doesn't matter the location of the fittings, just so long as you get the input and output correct. My suggestion is to mount the pump on the left inner fender as far to the rear away from the exhaust pipe as possible. Use rubber gas line to go from the steel line from the tank to the pump, and back to the carb, clamping all fittings. Locate the hoses away from the exhaust and anchor them so they don't move around. You can run a single wire to the fusebox to one of the terminals which is live when the ignition is on.
