In the factory where I work we got an internal car which we only move in short races in the three first gears and we have noticed that this problem happens in our car. I work in a Car Company Laboratory. I work in the Electro-Physics Lab and I know only a bit about this but I talked with my neighbours of the Metal Lab, they are who test the exhausts of cars, and they told me: “This problem use to happen when a car is used in short gears, and for also short periods of time. Why?. The most important thing is the time period of use because the problem is not of your exhaust, is from the catalyser. A catalyser needs at least to reach 400 ºC degrees temperature to begin to work properly and that only happen with period of time bigger. Your catalyser did burn ok the petrol sulphur. Humidity is not good also.” Try to drive in long gears from time to time, maybe in weekends. I hope it helps you. Please tell me if we are right in our ideas.
