The smell is hydrogen sulfide and results from burning of sulfur compounds in the gasoline as the exhaust gases pass through the catalytic converter. All brands of gasoline have some sulfur content but it varies significantly by brand. So try changing brand. Amoco & BP (really one company) are likely to be among the best but that is not guaranteed as sometimes they get their gasoline from other companies (a long story). Further, new catalytic converters tend to be more reactive and so you get more reaction of the sulfur. As other posts noted, usually the smell drops off once you have a few thousand miles. There is little a dealer can do about the problem - other than give you an air deodorizer.
