If the Cat will always come up to temperature on a proper running engine. This car ,if US spec, is OBDII in it's diagnostic capacity. The ECM runs checks on all emission related systems including the convertor(thats why it has a rear O2 sensor to monitor convertor efficiency and to some extent, trim the long term fuel trim). So, needless to say, if the convertor was defective the check engine lamp (MIL) would be on and a DTC stored in the Engine Control Module.
